Fix wrong or missing book covers on your Kobo

Understand why Kobo covers differ, choose the right edition artwork and verify a cover change safely after reconnecting your reader.

Reviewed:

Identify where the wrong cover appears

Compare the cover in Kobbie, the thumbnail on your Kobo and the cover inside the ebook. These are different surfaces and may use different images. Changing a saved choice in Kobbie does not by itself prove that the device thumbnail or the ebook file has changed.

Choose the correct book and edition

Open the book in Cover Studio and compare the title and author before selecting artwork. Check the language and edition where possible. A cover for an audiobook, an omnibus or a similarly named book may look plausible while referring to the wrong edition. Review the complete cover rather than a cropped thumbnail.

Preview a device change separately

Saving a cover choice and writing it to a Kobo are separate steps. Device writing depends on browser support, account access and the enabled rollout. Use desktop Chrome or Edge with the Kobo connected. If the write action is unavailable, follow the explanation in the app rather than assuming that a saved choice is already on the device.

Reconnect and verify the result

Follow the app’s eject and reconnect instructions, then scan again to verify the result. A completed browser operation is not the same as verification after the Kobo processes its library. If recovery is requested, follow that flow before making another change. Keep your original ebook files backed up before editing your library.
